My blogging journey started in high school where I started writing book reviews and sharing my monthly Ipsy bags with a full cost breakdown of each product to see if it actually saves you money. I was also writing on makeup companies and providing tips for how to apply makeup. Then, it was time to go to school and instead of focusing on the website, I focused on my schoolwork.
While in college, I created ThatGirlTess in 2016 (no longer active), lost the domain to a random company based in China, and gained it back a few years later once they tired of the domain. The goal with that website was to be a lifestyle blog focused on college. I never did anything with it because I was so busy while in school. But I never stopped learning about Pinterest strategies and marketing strategies with blogs.
Post college I created EverythingTess, but life got in the way when I moved to Chicago, and I pushed my creative ideas aside. That is…. until 2024 where I re-discovered my passion for home cooking and especially cooking for those around me. I spent the year learning, meal prepping, experimenting with recipes and trying out different cuisines. I also re-discovered my love of crafting with beads and have been learning how to make beaded curtains, bracelets and earrings. But most of all, I rediscovered my passion for writing. I’ve been writing stories since I was a child. I still have one of my stories that was laminated and tied together with string. I loved writing so much that along with my Business major, I minored in Creative Writing. This year, I’ve been editing my short stories and writing poetry again. As well as expanding my knowledge of SEO friendly writing and descriptions for Pinterest pins and Pinterest Ads.
And now, I’d like to share what I’ve learned and explore my passion(s) further.
Real life isn’t a one-track path, and I wanted my blog to be a representation of that. My plan for this website is to not only be about food, but rather a creative outlet for my writing and personal finance journey. However, what you can expect now on EverythingTess are small batch recipes that are focused on being easy, healthy and high protein.
