Idea Pin Stats After 24 Hours On Pinterest

When Idea Pins were announced on Pinterest, I viewed it as a money-grab to copy Instagram because what do modern day marketing companies like to do? They see something successful and copy it. The question I’ll ask today: are Idea Pins useful to pin or are they a waste of time? I’ll be showing my first Idea Pin stats 24 hours after publishing them with zero experience.

It is key to note that I have never used Idea Pins before on Pinterest. This post is to document my first experience with them and the results from them. I’ll be honest. I’m not particularly the best at SEO or strategies with Pinterest. That is why I want to document what I try with Pinterest and navigate through what works and what doesn’t. I want to show my experience to help others create their own Pinterest decisions. I am not a professional Pinterest strategist, but it is my goal to become one. And how does one do that? By learning and implementing what they learn firsthand. Join me in my journey to becoming a Pinterest manager through my own Pinterest statistics.

Let’s grow our Pinterest accounts together.

My Idea Pins Stats

Even though I have not personally posted an Idea Pin, I was familiar with how others’ were using them via my own feed. To start, I posted 4 Idea Pins. Two of them were repeats because it didn’t show up that I had posted it the first time. And then when I logged in hours later, they both showed up. I can see this being a frustrating aspect for a Pinterest manager.

Idea Pins After 24 Hours

As you can see, one of these Pins did not perform as well as the others. What makes this pin different from the others is that there is no video aspect to it. The others have moving graphics which make them have an interactive quality. Going forward, I will be using moving graphics in my Idea Pins as I can see they perform better.

It is interesting to see the impressions into the 100’s because unlike pins, there is not a designated space for writing a SEO description. Rather, you use title and tags as the SEO. As far as the tags go, sometimes, they would pop up and sometimes, they would not show at all. To me, this aspect needs to be severely updated because when the tags did pop up, I only had a few options to choose from.

Idea Pins Vs. Regular Pins

As we can see from the stats below, the regularly pinned pins have less impressions and engagements. This is unexpected as the regularly pinned pins have a richer description and more SEO keywords than the Idea Pins. Conclusion: unclear. It could be the graphics are boring; it could be poor SEO. Since I don’t have the same description or titles for these, it is hard to come to a conclusion as to why they performed less. However, they are performing more or less equally with 3 having the same number of impressions. Interesting.

Apologies

I apologize for the lack of a strategic process for these Pins. It was not my original intention to share these Pinterest Pins as a strategy or a blog post. However, I have been wanting to document Pinterest strategies for a long time now. And with a newly opened Etsy shop, I figured I could start with trying out ideas to drive traffic to my shop via Pinterest. In the future, there will be more strategy and uniformity to tell what works and doesn’t. Here’s to documenting my journey with using Pinterest as a marketing tool for Etsy!

Stats after 48 Hours:

Here are my Idea Pin Stats after 48 hours. As we can see, the Basic Bish Pin did not perform well compared to the others which I still believe is because it doesn’t have a video aspect to it. Whereas, the other Pins pretty much doubled in impressions. However, they did not have that many engagements even with doubled impressions.

How Did My Regular Pins Do After 48 Hours?

They are still performing consistently in terms of impressions. However, the engagements are nonexistent which means I need to devise a new approach to these pins. I’ve never posted a product pin before so it is interesting to see how these performed.

If you are familiar with Idea Pins, what’s your number one go-to strategy with them? Share in the comments below and let’s all help each other grow our Pinterest accounts.
